We asked our distributor about the issue of recycling LCDs vs Plasma screens and how they compare to to old picture tube TVs. Here is his response. Actually LCD screens are a lot harder to recycle than Plasma because you can actually smelt the Plasma and recycle the metal used to house the phosphors. With LCD there is a chemical process to recycling and there are far fewer places to recycle and more expensive. Either way you would need to take apart the units to recycle the various metals and Plastics, and even the glass.At this particular point I think they are 50/50 from what I have read.But finding a place that will actually recycle either is probably going to be the biggest hassle. You can’t throw either away in a landfill
